Ursa Major Racing – Wetherby Preview

Two runners today for Ursa Major Racing at Wetherby

It’s another exciting day for the team as we head to Wetherby with two runners representing Ursa Major Racing — De Deli Counter for Mark Walford and Genbu for Sam England.

1:43 Wetherby – De Deli Counter

Our first runner of the day is De Deli Counter (pictured below), who makes his debut for the yard under Jamie Hamilton. This looks a strong and competitive novice, with several runners bringing solid experience to the table, while De Deli Counter is still at the very beginning of his racing journey.

Today is very much a schooling and learning day for him — an opportunity to gain valuable racecourse experience and to understand what’s being asked of him. He’s a horse we’ve always liked, and he’s shown ability at home, but with this being only his second ever run, we’re realistic that he might find a few with more know-how on the day.

If he can get into a nice rhythm, jump fluently, and show us a bit of promise to build on, that would be a fantastic start. It’s all about education and progression, and we’re hopeful that today lays a solid foundation for the future.

2:13 Wetherby – Genbu

Our second runner, Genbu, lines up in the 2:13 for Sam England, with Jonny England taking the ride. He’s been a model of consistency, finishing third on his last four starts, and we’d love nothing more than to see him go one or two places better this afternoon.

It’s another competitive race on paper, and there’s a Lucinda Russell-trained runner who could be anything. Should that one run to its mark, it will set a high standard — but Genbu continues to improve with each outing, and we’re hopeful that he can dig a little deeper again today.

He’s a tough, genuine horse who always gives his running, and we’d be delighted if he can be in the mix turning for home.

Final Thoughts

Both horses go to Wetherby in good heart, and it’s great to see the Ursa Major Racing colours represented twice on the card. For De Deli Counter, it’s all about gaining experience and showing us something to build on, while Genbu looks to continue his consistent run and hopefully find that bit extra to get his head in front.

Good luck to all our connections, riders, and everyone attending Wetherby today — and as always, thank you to all our supporters for following the journey!
