Tuesday Night Lights at Newcastle – Three Runners for the Battenberg Colours

We’re back in action this evening with three runners representing the Battenberg colours at Newcastle, and it promises to be an exciting night ahead for the Ursa Major Racing team.

8.00 Newcastle – Gressington (Trainer: Katie Scott | Jockey: Oisin Orr)

We kick things off with Gressington, who makes his racecourse debut for Katie Scott and Oisin Orr. He’s a lovely type who has settled in well at home, showing a professional attitude in his work.

Tonight is very much about education and experience – we’ll be learning plenty about him, but he’s got a nice draw to work from, which should give him every chance to find his rhythm. If he can finish in the first half of the field and show us something to build on, that would be a very encouraging start. He’s shown glimpses of ability at home, and if he can bring that to the track, he could run a really promising race.

8.00 Newcastle – Macedonian (Trainer: Michael Dods | Jockey: Paul Mulrennan)

Joining him in the same race is Macedonian, trained by Michael Dods and partnered by Paul Mulrennan. He’s been moving and looking well at home, and the team has been pleased with how he’s come out of his recent runs.

Things didn’t quite go to plan at Hamilton last time – it just didn’t seem to suit him – but back here at Newcastle, a track he knows well, we’re hoping to see him bounce back to form. It’s a competitive contest, as you’d expect at this level, but if he can settle nicely and get into a good rhythm from off the pace, there’s every chance he can show the kind of form we saw earlier in the season.

8.30 Newcastle – Sassy Glory (Trainer: Mark Walford | Jockey: Rhys Elliott)

Rounding off the evening is Sassy Glory, who lines up in the 8.30 for Mark Walford with Rhys Elliott taking the ride. She’s currently priced around 10/1, which looks a big price considering what she’s capable of on her day.

She bolted up a couple of runs ago, and although she ran a little flat last time when we tried to beat the handicapper, she may have just come back a bit too quickly after that win. She’s had a bit more time between runs now, and if she can recapture that winning form, she should be right in the mix again tonight. The favourite looks a strong one, but Sassy’s got plenty of talent and could easily run a big race if things fall her way.

It’s shaping up to be a busy night, and we’re thrilled to have over 30 of our members making the trip to Newcastle on a Tuesday evening – it really shows the incredible support behind the club.

A huge thank you to everyone for your continued backing – let’s hope the hard work pays off and we can bring home some great results for the team.

Good luck to all connections!
