Manager’s Thoughts – Two Runners Today at Hereford & Musselburgh

Today we’re back with two runners — Marhaba The Champ and Carolus Magnus.

Marhaba The Champ lines up in the 2:42 at Hereford for Sophie Leech, with Sean Bowen taking the ride. It’s his first start over hurdles in what looks a very competitive novice event, featuring several with solid previous form. It’s very much a learning day for him — we’re just hoping for a nice, clean round of jumping and some valuable experience. Having Sean on board is a real plus and should provide us with some great feedback. If he can finish in the middle of the pack and beat a few home, we’ll be delighted — anything more is a bonus.

Carolus Magnus (pictured below) goes in the 4:22 at Musselburgh for Mick & David Easterby, with Joanna Mason in the saddle. He produced his best run for us at Musselburgh, so we’re hoping a return there will bring out the best in him again. The plan will be to make plenty of use of him, get into a good rhythm, and hopefully put the others under pressure. A repeat of his previous course form should see him right in the mix.

Good luck to all connections! It’s been a fantastic weekend visiting the stables of Michael Dods and Katie Scott — plenty of positive vibes heading into today.
