Owners’ Visit to Michael Dods Racing
Yesterday, the Ursa Major Racing owners enjoyed a fantastic morning visiting the stable of Michael Dods, where we were delighted to check in on our horses currently based there — Darlo Pride, Macedonian, Northern Tempest, and Mali and Me.
Owners were greeted with a warm welcome and treated to a delicious selection of breakfast sandwiches and refreshments before setting off for a full tour of the yard. Along the way, there was plenty to see, including some of the stable’s well-known stars such as Dakota Gold, Commanche Falls, and Northern Ticker, who was due to run later that day.
Checking in on Our Horses
We first caught up with Darlo Pride, who is in full preparation for his winter campaign. He’s looking in great shape and continues to thrive in his routine — including regular use of the spa, which helps with muscle recovery, circulation, and keeping him fresh for the season ahead.
Next, it was time to head out to the gallops. The group was greeted with friendly smiles as the morning exercise got underway. Owners were able to watch the horses warming up around the round gallop before making their way up the main stretch, showing their progress and enthusiasm.
The team took time to answer questions and explain the training plans for each horse, giving everyone a real insight into the attention to detail that goes into preparing them for the track.
A Day to Remember
It was a fantastic day all round — full of insight, excitement, and plenty of laughter. Seeing our horses coming along so nicely is always a highlight, and days like this are a reminder of the strong community spirit that makes Ursa Major Racing so special.
We’d like to extend a huge thank you to Michael Dods Racing for their hospitality and for making everyone feel so welcome. It’s a brilliant, family-run operation that aligns perfectly with our own values at Ursa Major Racing.
