Ursa Major Racing – Runners Recap (April 16th)
Yesterday saw two runners take to the track for Ursa Major Racing, both putting in solid performances that left connections proud and hopeful for what’s to come.
Ashington – Cheltenham
First up was Ashington, who lined up at the prestigious Cheltenham in a fiercely competitive 16-runner field. Sent off at 25/1, Ashington was partnered by Ursa Major favourite Tom Midgley, with a clear set of instructions and a well-considered plan in place.
Travelling smoothly for much of the race, Ashington found himself slightly outpaced a few fences from home but stayed on gamely to finish 10th, just 10 lengths behind the winner. Considering the unsuitable race pace and the depth of the field, it was a highly respectable effort. We hope the handicapper takes note and gives him a bit of leniency next time out.
Bay Dream Believer – Beverley
Later in the day, it was the turn of the ever-game Bay Dream Believer, returning from a 154-day break to run at Beverley for her ever-loyal owners, The Battenbergs. Despite her small stature, she’s full of heart, and once again showed why she’s so beloved.
Under Rhys Elliott, Bay Dream Believer ran as if she’d never been away. Though expected to tire late on, she dug deep and produced a cracking performance to finish 4th—a brilliant return to action. With most bookmakers paying out on each-way bets up to 4th, it was a rewarding result for her connections.
