Ursa Major Racing – Stable Update: April Snapshot

As mentioned in one of our recent blogs, our racing manager has provided a full round-up of every horse currently in training or resting within the Ursa Major Racing team. With a busy few months ahead, here’s a horse-by-horse snapshot of where things stand across the yard:

Ashington

Lined up Wednesday at Cheltenham – a true yard legend. He got outpaced but ran on well. Needs further in his older age. Hopefully handicapper drops him abit.

Bay Dream Believer

Seasonal debut Wednesday at Beverley. Exceptionally consistent last year, she started where she left off and ran her heart out to come fourth and will come on for the run also!

Beltane

Ran a strong race at Catterick carrying top weight. A respectable effort and likely to run next over a mile, provided the ground is quick. Entered next week

Glory and Honour

Disappointed slightly last time out – didn’t travel with his usual zest. He’s had a short break and will be aimed at Cartmel for his return.

Curious Rover

Very good run at Musselburgh. There’s a possible tilt at a £50,000 race there this Sunday, though it’s not confirmed. Other exciting targets include the Epsom Dash.

Punxsutawney Phil

Sadly won’t be heading to the Irish National meeting due to a knee issue. Very unfortunate news, but the team will work to get him back right.

May Blossom

Steve and Julie are very happy with her. She’s on course to return to the track in early May.

Kalganov

Set to run next week at Thirsk. Needs to show more – it could be a defining run for his future.

Mali and Me

A big, impressive three-year-old. Set to make her debut in the next 2–3 weeks.

Baby Rover

Took a big step forward last time out after a slow start. Runs again on Saturday and looks poised to go one better.

Heritier

Conditions haven’t gone his way – he’s a soft-ground specialist and hasn’t had his surface. He’ll now have a break.

Restandbethankful

Took on too much early at Kelso and didn’t stay the trip over 2m4f. He’ll drop back to 2 miles next time out.

Final Edgar

Track didn’t suit last time – ran fairly, though not at his best. He’ll be targeted at flatter tracks moving forward.

Jumeira Vision

Ran a cracking race under pressure last week, beaten only narrowly. Looks ready to win again.

Huit Reflets

Has had a couple of minor niggles but should be back in action within the next fortnight.

Noble Consort

Won impressively last time out and has gone up 6lb for it. He’s thriving at home and should be back on turf by the end of the month.

Sassy Glory

Going well at home and will run at Catterick next week.

Suitably Surprised

Needed the run on seasonal debut and will strip much fitter next time. Noble as the likely target.

Chasingouttheblues

Ran a very respectable race, flying home late to be beaten just 4 lengths. Now on summer holiday, but one to follow when back later in the year.

Joshua Des Flos

Recovering from injury and will head to Bella’s – who looks after our non-in-training horses – within the next 4–6 weeks.

Darlo Pride

Also recovering from injury and will be joining Bella’s care in the next week.

Straya

Showed slight improvement last time and runs at Thirsk next week. Needs to continue progressing.

Court Correspondent

Now on a break as the soft ground has gone. Will be back in action later in the year.

Yearlings

All three yearlings have been entered for the Redcar Three-Year-Old Trophy. We hope to see them out on track in May.

Pescatorius

Ran a solid race last time out. We’re hopeful he’ll be back in action before the end of the month.

Mr Sundancer

Entered at Market Rasen on Sunday. Will need the run but should be competitive afterwards.

Ingennio

A horse Lizzie really rates. Targeting a run towards the end of May.

Tarlac

Ran well last time and heads to Doncaster at the end of the month. The track should suit.

Defence Witness

Had an issue that left him slightly underpowered. Now resolved and should be back on track very soon.

Sonning

Now being aimed over hurdles after showing little on the flat but working well at home. Runs Saturday at Carlisle.

Falcon Nine

Very unlucky last time, missing the break but finishing fast. A race plan is in place – expect more next time.

Plenty happening across the team, with more runners to come this weekend and exciting targets for the season ahead. Stay tuned for further updates and thank you as always for your support of Ursa Major Racing!
