Manager’s Thoughts – Sunday Runners

Sunday shapes up to be a busy day with four runners across Market Rasen and Ayr. It’s a mixed bag in terms of form and expectations—some horses have genuine chances based on their recent performances, while others are running to prove their worth for the future.

Final Edgar – 2.00 Market Rasen

We start the day with Final Edgar, who runs at Market Rasen with Tom Midgley onboard. He has been showing better form at home lately. His last race was unusual — he looked beaten and possibly about to be pulled up but finished very strongly and flew home. We plan to give him a positive ride this time, and with his handicap mark coming down, we are hopeful for a big performance.

Key rivals to watch include Lone Star, who has a good record at Market Rasen, and Malangen, who had a tough race at Perth recently but is always competitive. If Final Edgar can return to his best, a place in the top three is very achievable.

Jumeira Vision – 2.55 Ayr

Next up at Ayr is Jumeira Vision, ridden by Jason Hart. This could be a crucial run for him in the Batternberg silks. He caused a shock last time we said that - winning at 50/1 shortly after being placed on the transfer list! This classified race should suit him well, and on his best day, he could win comfortably.

However, he seems to have lost some enthusiasm lately, so this run is important for his future with us. We hope to see him return to form.

Straya – 4.40 Ayr (pictured below)

Straya runs next at Ayr with Joanna Mason riding. She is another horse fighting to secure her future. Straya has tended to travel well in races but fade in the final stages. After advice from experienced jockey Connor Beasley, we are trying this new trip and old track, the track which has previously suited her.

There are strong competitors in the race, including That Lucas Fella and Daring Leader. While cautious, we remain hopeful Straya can improve on recent efforts.

Kalganov – 5.15 Ayr

Our final runner is Kalganov at Ayr with Paul Mulrennan aboard. The race did not divide, meaning he faces a large and competitive field. The presence of several unexposed three-year-olds makes the race more unpredictable. Notable among them is Sneddy Eddie, who won well last time and is a serious threat.

Kalganov has shown ability and is working well at home. We would like to see him finish in the top three and mark a return to form.

All in all, it’s a day where we’ll learn a lot. No matter what, we just want them all home safe — and if one or two surprise us along the way, even better.

Good luck to all connections, and thanks as always for the continued support!
