Straya Shines at Ayr as Jimmy Bows Out a Hero
What looked set to be a frustrating day for the team turned into a memorable one, thanks to Straya, who delivered in style to win the 4.40 at Ayr under a smart ride from Joanna Mason.
Sent off at 5/2 - Straya was patiently ridden in midfield before making headway on the outer. She moved into second around two furlongs out and was soon embroiled in a duel with one other rival. Despite hanging left under pressure, Straya hit the front inside the final 110 yards and kept on strongly to land the spoils — a fantastic result for her owners and a testament to Joanna Mason’s cool handling.
But while Straya lit up the afternoon, the day also marked a moment to pause and celebrate the career of a syndicate favourite…
Tribute to Jimmy – A Syndicate Star Retires
JUMEIRA VISION (pictured below) came into the world on the 20th of April 2020.
Bred by Godolphin by Iffraaj out of a Godolphin mare, he was sent to John Gosden as a yearling. With one run for John Gosden, he was then sold for 15,000 Guineas to race under Archie Watsons guidance.
Under Archie Watson, he had eight runs and 1 win on the all-weather at Wolverhampton.
Jimmy then joined the Katie Scott team from the Tattersall sales, and he looked another very shrewd buy from Craig Talbot.
His first run in the Battenberg colours was the 12th of February 2024, and by the 13th of July 2024, he had racked up 3 wins.
Those three wins were at the tracks of Redcar Musselburgh and Hamilton over 22 fabulous days.
Jimmys hat-trick at Hamilton was also to be Phil Dennis final winner.
Jimmy then ran several good races afterwards and the owners were rewarded winner number 4 at Wolverhampton on the 30th of December 2024.
This also notched up winner number 31 for Ursa Major Racing club in 2024 which in itself was a remarkable achievement.
Jimmy bows out from the sport fit and healthy with 25 runs for Team Scott and Ursa and 4 wins and all importantly, leaves some wonderful memories for his Loyal Owners.
