Manager’s Thoughts – Saturday Runners (2nd August)
We’ve got three runners representing Ursa Major Racing today across Thirsk and Doncaster – an exciting afternoon ahead with plenty to look forward to!
🏇 Half Moon King – 2:15 Thirsk
Trainer: Julie Camacho | Jockey: Oisin McSweeney
First out today is Half Moon King, making his debut run in our colours. He arrived with a bit of a reputation as a lively character, but we’re pleased to say he’s been absolutely brilliant at home—settled, focused, and working well. Today is very much a learning curve, but if he can relax and do things the right way, we’d be hopeful of a strong performance. A finish in the first three would be a brilliant result. He’ll gain his handicap mark after this run, and we’re confident he’ll be a lot of fun going forward.
🏇 Bay Dream Believer – 4:45 Doncaster (pictured below)
Trainer: Mark Walford | Jockey: Jason Hart
Next up is Bay Dream Believer, who’s had a few issues recently, but we’re optimistic that we’ve now got her back on track. She’s been showing promising signs again at home and looks to be returning to herself. If she can find the form she showed last year—or even from parts of this season—we think she’ll go very close today.
🏇 Tarlac – 5:20 Doncaster
Trainer: Katie Scott | Jockey: Harrison Shaw
Finally, Tarlac is back out for his next run. He was disappointing last time out, but we feel he simply didn’t enjoy the testing ground conditions that day. He’s back on a quicker surface today, which should be much more to his liking. It’s a competitive race, but we’re hopeful we can see a return to the kind of form we know he’s capable of.
Best of luck to all our connections today – let’s hope for a big afternoon for Ursa Major Racing!
