Manager’s Thoughts – Race Day & Sales Round-Up

We’re back today with the latest from the club and there’s plenty to talk about both on and off the track.

Firstly, an update on Macedonian – he was entered to run in the 7.00 at Hamilton for Michael Dods. However, with the ground now firm, Michael has made the decision to withdraw him. Horse welfare always comes first, and Macedonian is a horse he holds in high regard, so it’s the right call to look after him for another day when conditions are more suitable. There’s no rush when you’ve got a nice horse on your hands.

We do still have a runner this evening, as last-time-out winner Straya lines up in the 8.30 at Hamilton. Trained by Katie Scott and ridden once again by Connor Beasley, Straya heads into this contest carrying a penalty following that recent win. It’s a very competitive race for the grade, but this is a tactical move to get him back out before the handicapper has a chance to reassess him – as he’s due to go up further in the weights than the penalty would have him.

Straya has come out of his win well, and we’re hopeful he can run another big race tonight. It won’t be easy, but he goes there with solid claims and we think he has a strong each-way chance in what looks a lively heat.

Away from the track, it’s been a hectic but exciting few days at the sales, where we’ve added three fantastic new horses with shares available to the team:

  • Carolus Magnus (Mick & David Easterby) – a well-bred, strong individual with proven form

  • Love True (Rebecca Menzies) – an eye-catching type with untapped potential

  • Cooperation (Katie Scott) – a tough and versatile campaigner who looks a lot of fun for the season ahead

We’re absolutely delighted with these new recruits, and we can’t wait to get them home and see what they can do. Shares are already available, so if you’re interested in getting involved with any of these exciting new horses, head over to the “Shares Available” page on our website for all the details.

Thanks for following along – and best of luck to all connections with Straya this evening!
