🏏 One Week to Go – Ursa Major x Mark Walford Racing Charity Cricket Match
We’re just one week away from the return of a brilliant day out for a brilliant cause – the Ursa Major x Mark Walford Racing charity cricket match, taking place on Sunday 20th July at Sheriff Hutton Cricket Ground in support of Macmillan Cancer Support.
This is the second year we’ve held the match, and last year saw Mark Walford’s team walk away with the win. However, Craig Talbot, our racing manager, has been quietly putting together a few surprises for this year’s lineup… and let’s just say, we’ve heard whispers that a couple of the Ursa lads might actually know how to play cricket this time 😅. So, it could be a very different result!
But as much as we love a bit of healthy competition, the day is really about something much more important.
This year, Lee Randall—one of our incredible Ursa admin team who works tirelessly behind the scenes—would like to dedicate the match to a dear friend of the Ursa Major family who is currently undergoing their second course of chemotherapy. It’s an 18-week journey with treatment every three weeks, and we’re proud to be doing our part to raise funds and awareness through this event.
At Ursa Major, we may be a racing club, but we’re more like a racing family. Whether it’s the horses, the competitions, the tipping banter, or just the group chats about holidays and opinions on everything under the sun – we’ve built something that goes well beyond the sport itself.
So, if you can spare anything at all, we’d be incredibly grateful for your support. All donations go to Macmillan Cancer Support, who do such vital work for people going through incredibly tough times.
We’re looking forward to a great day, full of laughs, friendly rivalry, and a few creaky muscles the morning after. Good luck to both teams – may the best one win!
Thanks as always for your support,
Team Ursa Major Racing
