Manager’s Thoughts – Northern Tempest at Pontefract
We’re back in action today with one runner heading out for Ursa Major Racing — Northern Tempest, who goes in the 2:03 at Pontefract for Michael Dods, with Paul Mulrennan taking the ride.
It’s been a little while since we last saw him on the track. He made his debut at Carlisle, which turned out to be a bit of a messy race, and unfortunately, he got kicked during the run. That meant he needed some time off to recover, but he’s been training well at home and is ready to get back into the swing of things.
The main aim today is for him to settle and enjoy himself. He’s likely to need the run after his time away, but we’d still hope to see him finish somewhere in the first half of the field. If he’s a touch fitter than we think, he could even go a bit closer. Paul will look to give him a positive experience and bring him home safely, which should set him up nicely for the rest of the season.
Best of luck to all our connections and everyone making the trip to Pontefract this afternoon. It’s shaping up to be a busy week ahead — and with the sales also taking place, we might even have a new recruit or two joining the Ursa Major team before long!
