Managers Thoughts - 6th September

We head into Saturday with just the one runner today, as Commander Atkinson takes his chance in the 6:42 at Newcastle with Faye McManoman in the saddle.

It’s fair to say he’s been a little disappointing so far, but there are reasons behind that. A spell on the sidelines with ringworm meant he needed more time off than planned, and that has held back his progress. Today really marks the beginning of his comeback trail.

On the positive side, if Commander Atkinson can reproduce the form he showed earlier in his career, he is now becoming very well handicapped. At this stage, though, we are more hopeful than confident—what we’d love to see is a step forward, a run that reminds us what he’s capable of, and something his owners can shout home about.

Looking beyond today, excitement is already building for tomorrow when we host our annual Ursa Owners’ meet-up at York. We’ll be based in the famous Ebor Stand, and it promises to be a fantastic occasion with plenty of familiar faces coming together. To top it off, Curious Rover is also set to run, which should make the day even more special.

Keep an eye on all of our social media channels over the next couple of days, as we’ll be sharing plenty of updates, behind-the-scenes moments, and hopefully a few celebrations along the way.

Here’s to a positive run today and a brilliant weekend for all involved with Ursa Major Racing!
