From £6,000 Bargain to Six-Time Winner

Today we witnessed something truly special as Bay Dream Believer landed her hat-trick in style.

Bought by Craig and Mark at the online sales for just £6,000, this little star has turned out to be one of the yard’s greatest value purchases. She came into today’s race seeking her sixth career win for the team, aiming to join Event of Sivola as one of our joint top winners.

With Rhys Elliott back in the saddle, she lined up over the same course and distance she had won at just 10 days earlier. A small rise of 2lbs from the handicapper wasn’t going to deter her chance, but the start of the race didn’t go to plan.

Bay Dream became sdetached leaving the stalls, and at one stage was more than 10 lengths adrift. It looked like her winning streak might come to an end. But just as quickly as she dropped back, she showed her trademark determination to get back in touch. Gradually, she began to reel in her rivals, moving through the field with purpose.

Inside the final furlong, Rhys asked for an effort – and Bay Dream answered. She dug deep, showing the grit and heart that have become her trademark. Despite being one of the smallest horses in training, she once again proved that her size doesn’t define her ability. With her head down and ears pinned back, she surged to the front and won going away, making it look more comfortable than it first appeared.

Bay Dream Believer is living proof that price and size don’t determine success. She may not be competing in Listed or Graded company, but her willingness to give everything she has each time she runs is priceless. For her owners, she delivers excitement and pride every single time she steps onto the track.

A huge well done must go to Mark Walford and his team, who have kept her in fantastic condition. Earlier this year she had a few issues which the yard quickly identified and resolved – since then, she hasn’t looked back.

To have a horse like Bay Dream Believer running in the Batternberg silks is a privilege, and today’s win is yet another reminder of why she’s so special.
