Carolus Magnus Looking to Bounce Back Today

Today we head to Musselburgh with one runner — Carolus Magnus in the 2:55 for the Mick & David Easterby team, with Joanna Mason once again taking the ride.

He was very impressive when winning here last time out, putting the race to bed by 2¼ lengths and looking right at home around this track. We then rolled the dice quickly by sending him to Newcastle the following week. It may just have come a bit too soon, and he wasn’t quite able to replicate the same spark on that occasion.

However, he’s been pleasing the Easterby team back at home and has been training nicely since. Returning to Musselburgh feels a positive move — he knows the track, the ground should be suitable, and the setup looks to play to his strengths. With Joanna back on board, who knows him well, we’re hopeful he can get himself competitive again and be there in the mix when it matters.
