A Busy Ten Minutes for the Battenberg Colours

It was a thrilling ten minutes for the Battenberg silks as Lumenbourg and Noble Consort, both representing the Julie Camacho yard, were in action almost simultaneously—Lumenbourg at Redcar and Noble Consort at Goodwood.

First up was Lumenbourg. Drawn wide, he was forced to do a little more than ideal in the early stages, getting to the front a touch too soon. Jason switched to Plan B, taking him back to try and deliver a late run. He looked a real threat in the closing stages, but the early exertions just caught up with him. Even so, he ran a hugely creditable race to finish a solid third. He’s proving to be a fantastic addition to the Ursa Major Racing team.

Then came Noble Consort. Also hampered by a tricky draw, Ryan gave him a patient ride, finding cover before asking the question at the two-furlong pole. Noble Consort responded in style. As the leading trio pulled clear, it was Noble Consort who dug deepest, putting his head down in the middle of the track to win impressively. Not only did he show his class, but he also delivered Ursa Major Racing its very first winner at Goodwood—a fantastic achievement on one of the course’s premier days.

Congratulations to everyone involved with both horses. Lumenbourg ran with huge credit, while Noble Consort provided a truly special moment for the club. Here’s to many more days like this—champagne at the ready for Noble Consort’s delighted owners!
