Ursa Major Racing Update: A Mixed Bag of Action!
This weekend wrapped up the thrilling Trainers’ Championship, and what a finish it was! Willie Mullins clinched the top spot, edging out Dan Skelton. But for Ursa Major Racing, our focus was on our three exciting runners – Tarlac, May blossom and Agathon
Tarlac’s Performance at Doncaster: A Step Forward!
Tarlac was out at Doncaster, and although he got a bit keen early on, he showed real promise as the race went on, staying strong to the finish. Trainer Katie Scott and the whole team were really pleased with his effort. It’s clear he’s continuing to grow, and we can’t wait to see what he can do next!
May Blossom: Debut on Sunday
May Blossom made her seasonal debut on Sunday, without her usual blinkers, and though she got detached early from the 3-year-old field, it was a good learning experience. The ratings suggested she needed to hit 100 to perform well, and we’ll be targeting a better result next time out. We’re excited to see her back to full form!
Agathon was back in action today for Rebecca Menzies, and what a run it was!
Ridden confidently by Kaiya Fraser, Agathon was settled beautifully just behind the early leaders. The pair found a perfect rhythm, tracking the pace with ease and always looking full of running.
As they turned for home and entered the final few furlongs, Agathon took it up — hitting the front with a powerful move that looked like it might seal the deal. For a moment, it looked as if victory was in the bag.
But in the closing stages, he just couldn’t quite hold off the late challengers and was narrowly denied in the final strides. Still, it was a tremendous effort, showing guts, improvement, and real promise for what lies ahead.
Connections were delighted with the run, and all signs now point toward a step up in trip, which looks sure to suit him down to the ground.
Stay tuned for all the latest updates and behind-the-scenes action from Ursa Major Racing through our YouTube and social media. It’s an exciting time, and we’re thrilled to have you along for the ride!
