A Busy Day at the Races as Ursa Ends April with Four Runners and Sales on the Horizon
As April draws to a close, the sun continues to shine and the Ursa Major Racing team is heading into a busy and exciting day with four runners across the country. While Racing Manager Craig is away at the Tattersalls Sales, scouting for the next Ursa bargain—or potential superstar—the team is fully focused on a packed day of action on the track.
Debut Day for Mali
First up is Mali, who makes her much-anticipated racecourse debut. Although she didn’t run as a two-year-old, the decision to give her time to grow and strengthen over the winter has paid dividends. She’s matured significantly, and while today’s race is a highly competitive one, we’re confident she’ll gain vital experience. Her time to shine isn’t far away.
Kalganov Returns at Ayr
Next, we head north to Ayr where Kalganov makes his return to racing following a reversal in his retirement decision. The team believes he still has more to offer, and glimpses of his ability were evident in his last outing. If he can rediscover his best form, he’s certainly capable of going close—today will reveal whether he’s back to his best.
Falcon Nine Looks to Bounce Back
An hour later, Falcon Nine is back on the track. His last couple of runs have been somewhat frustrating, losing ground early before flying home with the fastest final furlong in both races. The ability is clearly there, and if everything falls into place today, we hope to see a more complete performance from this talented runner. His work at home suggests he’s ready to show what he’s truly capable of.
Noble Consort Carries High Hopes
Our final runner of the day is Noble Consort, trained by Julie Camacho. A winner last time out, Noble Consort lines up today with top jockey Tom Marquand aboard and goes into the race as favourite. A 6lb rise from the handicapper reflects his impressive performance last time, but we believe he’s still progressing. We’re hopeful he’ll justify his short price and continue on his upward curve.
Looking to the Future
While the team is busy on track, Craig is attending the Tattersalls Sales, on the lookout for the next exciting addition to the Ursa Major Racing string. Keep a close eye on our social media channels to see what he brings home—whether it’s one or a few, we’re always aiming to strengthen the squad.
Here’s to a strong finish to April—and exciting things ahead for May.
