Racing Into the Weekend: Baby Rover at Redcar & Craig’s Royal Ascot Picks
We’re back on track today with Baby Rover, who heads to Redcar for the 4:05 under trainer Katie Scott and jockey Joanna Mason.
After a tough run at Catterick—where she struggled with the surface and hit every bump—we’re hopeful that the fairer ground at Redcar will see her in a better light. While 5 furlongs may be her ideal trip, races at this grade often require flexibility, and we’re confident she can still give a solid account of herself over today’s distance.
There are plenty of positives to take into this race. Notably, she finished only two lengths behind today’s favourite last time out and now enjoys a 4lb weight swing in her favour. If the form holds, we’re expecting a competitive performance, with a top 3 finish well within reach. With the right run, we wouldn’t be surprised to see her in the mix at the finish.
