RACE DAY PREVIEW: CAROLUS MAGNUS HEADS TO WOLVERHAMPTON
Today, Ursa Major Racing sends out Carolus Magnus for David and Mick Easterby, with the ever-dependable Joanna Mason taking the ride. Joanna knows this horse extremely well and consistently gets a tune out of him, so it’s great to have her back on board.
Carolus Magnus arrives here following a very encouraging run last time out, showing what he’s capable of when things fall his way. He can be a little in and out, but when he’s on song he’s more than good enough to make his presence felt in a race like this.
Track, Tactics & Draw
We’re hopeful that Wolverhampton will play to his strengths in a similar way Musselburgh did. However, we haven’t been blessed with the draw — he’s stuck out in the “car park,” which will make the early stages absolutely crucial.
The plan will be to jump, get into a positive position, and slot in behind the leaders if possible. How the first furlong unfolds is likely to shape the entire race for him. If he gets that early rhythm and isn’t forced to do too much from the wide berth, he should be able to run a bold race.
Reasons for Optimism
There are both positives and negatives to weigh up today — the form is there, the jockey booking is ideal, but the draw adds an extra challenge. Still, if he turns up in the same form as he showed at Musselburgh, we’re hopeful he can be right in the mix when it matters.
Good Luck to All Connections & Supporters
Best of luck to everyone attending the races today or watching from home — there’s some fantastic racing on across the cards. Here’s hoping Carolus Magnus gives us all something to shout about!
