Managers thoughts- Commander Atkinson

This afternoon we’re represented at Beverley in the 3:08 with Commander Atkinson, trained by Brian Ellison and partnered by Ben Robinson. He’s a horse who has shown us glimpses of ability, and while things haven’t quite fallen his way yet, his most recent run did suggest he’s moving in the right direction. That performance gave us encouragement that he’s starting to find his rhythm.

On paper, today’s contest looks weaker than some of the races he’s contested recently, which should give him every chance to be competitive. He’s a well-handicapped horse at the moment, and it really does feel like it’s just a matter of everything clicking for him. If he can settle into the race and get the right breaks, we believe he has what it takes to be in the mix.

This is an important opportunity for Commander to show us what he’s capable of, and we’d love to see him take a step forward today. Good luck to all involved in the horse and to everyone making the trip to Beverley this afternoon. Don’t forget, you can follow along with all our updates on social media throughout the day.
