Supporting Elizabeth Anderson – Racing for a Cause Close to Our Hearts

As a club, giving back to the community is at the heart of everything we do. Whether it’s through competitions, charity events, or simply lending a helping hand, we’re always looking for ways to make a difference. Today, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on someone incredibly special to us – Elizabeth Anderson, a young lady who works and rides out at Mark Walford’s racing yard, and who is about to take on the challenge of a lifetime.

On June 14th, Elizabeth will be saddling up for the Macmillan Ride of Their Lives at York Racecourse – the UK’s biggest charity raceday – in an effort to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. This isn’t just another race; it’s a heartfelt mission. One driven by compassion, dedication, and a desire to support those whose lives have been affected by cancer.

A Cause That’s Personal

Macmillan’s work touches millions of lives, and the Ride of Their Lives is more than just a sporting event – it’s a powerful symbol of resilience and hope. Elizabeth’s participation is deeply personal, and it means the world to all of us to be able to support her on this incredible journey.

A Rider With Passion and Purpose

Elizabeth has pledged to raise a minimum of £4,000, but her ambition doesn’t stop there. Through a series of fundraising events, generous donations, and unwavering determination, she’s aiming to exceed this target – and we’re behind her every step of the way.

Although she’s been riding out for Mark Walford for the past three years, this challenge still demands intense preparation. From building her fitness to fine-tuning her race-riding skills, Elizabeth is putting in the hard work – and doing it all for an amazing cause.

On the big day, Elizabeth will be racing in the Ursa Major Battenberg silks aboard the talented Sassy Glory. Together, they’ll thunder down the iconic York turf – not just for the thrill of the ride, but for all those whose lives have been impacted by cancer.
