Mega Monday: Five Ursa Major Runners Across Three Courses!

It’s a massive Monday for Ursa Major Racing as we send five runners across three different racecourses—Redcar, Cartmel, and Huntingdon. With over 50 dedicated owners expected on course, today showcases everything our club stands for: passion, teamwork, and a love for the sport. Let’s dive into what’s shaping up to be a thrilling day.

Redcar – Triple Threat

We kick things off at Redcar with a trio of runners.

Leading the charge in the 3.35pm is Kalganov. At one point this season, he was nearly retired—but since then, he’s sparked back into form. With Conor Beasley back in the saddle, a jockey who knows him better than anyone, and a more favourable handicap mark, optimism is building. He’s been backed from 9/2 into 100/30, so the word is definitely out.

Then in the 5.45pm, we’re doubling up with Jumeira Vision and Falcon Nine, representing trainers Katie Scott and Iain Jardine, respectively.

  • Jumeira Vision is a firm favourite within the Ursa family, and returns after a promising fourth-place finish last time out, beaten just 1.25 lengths. Jason Hart is back onboard—a positive sign—and he currently heads the betting.

  • Falcon Nine, on the other hand, is our wildcard. He’s been tricky out of the stalls since joining us, but there’s no questioning his closing speed. If he breaks evenly and the race plays into his hands, he could surprise a few—perhaps even deliver a reverse forecast alongside Jumeira Vision. Now wouldn’t that be something?

Huntingdon – Quattro’s Moment?

Next up is Huntingdon, where Prince Quattro is looking to bounce back after a strong run where he finished third carrying top weight. This time, he benefits from 5lb claimer Alex Chadwick, which should make all the difference. Currently 2/1, he’s arguably our best chance of a win today.

Cartmel – Glory Returns

Finally, we head to one of our favourite tracks—Cartmel—where Glory and Honour teams up again with Sam England and is ridden by Jonny England.

He’s had a stop-start season with some near misses, but he’s been freshened up with a break and typically runs well when fresh. With the ever-consistent England team behind him, we’re hoping he can get back to form today.

A Growing Force

With five runners and over 50 owners out in support across the country, today is another proud milestone for Ursa Major Racing. It’s proof of just how far we’ve come and how strong our ownership community has become. Thank you to each and every one of you—it’s your dedication that makes days like this possible.
