Manager’s Thoughts — Superior Council at Newcastle (6:30)

After a short break, we’re delighted to return with the manager’s thoughts ahead of Superior Council’s run at Newcastle in the 6:30. He’ll be partnered once again by the ever-improving Archie Young, who currently sits 17th on the leaderboard with 68 points. Archie has been riding with confidence and maturity beyond his experience, and today provides another genuine opportunity for him to strengthen his position.

Looking at the race on paper, there doesn’t appear to be an abundance of early pace. That scenario usually plays right into our hands—provided the weather doesn’t throw a spanner in the works. High winds are forecast this evening, and the last thing we want is a strong headwind on the straight, especially for a horse whose biggest asset is his ability to bowl along in front.

Superior Council’s trademark style is no secret: get to the head of affairs, stretch the field out, and dare the others to catch him. When he finds his rhythm, he can be a very hard horse to peg back. If conditions fall kindly and he gets into that familiar groove, there’s every reason to believe he can put in another bold showing and help Archie collect some valuable points.

A big good luck to everyone attending today and to all the team who work tirelessly behind the scenes. Here’s hoping for a safe race and another performance to be proud of.
