Eyes on the Track: Ursa Horses Today
Manager’s Thoughts – Ursa Major Racing
We head into today with two runners, starting at Kelso before turning our attention to Newcastle later in the afternoon. Both horses have been pleasing us at home, and we’re hopeful they can each take a step forward on the track.
Kelso – 1:25
CHASINGOUTHEBLUES (pictured below)
Trainer: Mark Walford
Jockey: Jamie Hamilton
Chasingoutheblues has been shaping up well in his work and continues to progress the right way. He is a horse who benefits from getting into a rhythm early, and if he can secure a smooth start and jump with the fluency he’s shown at home, it should put him in a good position throughout.
We feel he holds a genuine chance today. The aim is to see a more polished, professional performance—tidier jumping, improved focus, and evidence that he’s beginning to piece everything together. If he can produce that level of progression, we’d like to think he’s capable of finishing in the first three.
Newcastle – 3:45
PRINCE QUATTRO
Trainer: James Owen
Jockey: Laura Pearson
Prince Quattro arrives in good heart and appears fairly treated by the handicapper. His recent efforts have been consistent, and he continues to train well at home, showing the right attitude and improvement.
We’re looking for another solid display—travelling comfortably, staying involved as the race unfolds, and putting himself in contention turning in. On his current form, he should be a first-three contender, and with a bit of luck, he may well make his presence felt in the closing stages.
Final Thoughts
Both horses are in good order, and each heads to the track today with a realistic chance of running well. It has been a quieter period for us, so a positive result from either runner would be a welcome lift.
Best of luck to all connections and everyone attending the races. We’ll keep you updated as the day progresses.
