A Busy Weekend for the Club – Strong Runs and Promising Sign

It’s been a lively couple of days for Ursa Major Racing, with some of our club legends stepping back onto the track and showing encouraging form.

Friday at Hamilton saw the return of Bay Dream Believer and Jumeira Vision. Bay Dream was back in action just a week after a strong second-place finish and attracted solid market support throughout the day. Meanwhile, Jumeira Vision—who famously landed a shock 50/1 win last time wearing the white cap—was also back on the scene.

Both horses executed their pre-race tactics well: Jumeira Vision went forward early while Bay Dream Believer was held back to settle and make a late challenge. Coming into the final furlongs, both looked to be travelling strongly, with Bay Dream threatening to swoop past the field. However, she didn’t quite find her usual turn of foot when asked. Jumeira Vision stayed on well to finish 4th, with Bay Dream Believer just behind in 5th.

It was a particularly encouraging step forward for Jumeira Vision, who is clearly returning to form and will be back again soon. As for Bay Dream Believer, she’ll likely benefit from a bit more distance and a longer break between races—there’s certainly more to come from her.

Saturday at Thirsk gave us another exciting run—this time from Curious Rover, trained by Katie Scott. The horse broke well and travelled prominently throughout. As the race unfolded, excitement grew among owners as Curious Rover looked poised to pounce. But in a tight finish, the outsider of the field just held on to win by a neck, denying us a memorable victory.

It’s been a weekend of near-misses, but the overall theme is consistency. Our runners are showing plenty of promise and the winners’ enclosure doesn’t feel far away.

Looking ahead, we’ve got several entries coming up at Carlisle and Hexham. Be sure to follow our latest updates here on the blog and across our social media channels.

Also, don’t miss our Shares page—there’s some exciting news coming from Brian Ellison, who is full of praise for our newest addition to the team!
