Sassy Glory Strikes at Newcastle!
What a night at Newcastle! Sassy Glory lined up in the 6:40 with Rhys Elliott in the saddle, and everything went exactly to plan. As we mentioned in our earlier blog, the key was always going to be getting to the rail and dictating the race from the front – and that’s exactly what she did. Rhys judged it perfectly, stealing a few lengths on the field, and once in control it was a simple case of catch me if you can.
After trying her over several trips, it feels like we may finally have unlocked the key to Sassy Glory. Huge credit must go to Mark Walford, who has kept the faith with her and continued to find the right opportunities. This was Sassy’s 23rd career start – and her first win – with 20 of those runs coming in Ursa Major Racing colours. To see her break through at last is hugely rewarding for everyone involved.
It’s a real pleasure teaming up with Mark Walford’s Racing Club, especially given his red-hot form at the moment. Wins like this make all the patience worthwhile, and we couldn’t be happier for the team.
This victory marks Ursa Major Racing’s 22nd winner of the year as we continue our chase towards last year’s record of 31. With the way things are going, it’s shaping up to be another fantastic season.
A big well done to all connections – and don’t miss the reactions and celebrations now live on our Facebook page!
