šŸŽ Commander Atkinson Joins Ursa Major Racing!

We're thrilled to welcome an exciting new addition to the Ursa Major team—Commander Atkinson! Racing Manager Craig Talbot had his eye firmly on the Beverley claiming race, and after careful evaluation, we made our move. A total of six claims were submitted—but luck was on our side, and Ursa Major secured what looks to be a bargain buy.

Commander Atkinson is no stranger to promise. He boasts a strong piece of form when finishing second to a horse now rated 85, and followed it up by finishing just a length behind a current 87-rated rival. Clearly, the ability is there—and now it’s time to unlock his full potential.

We’re also delighted to announce that Commander Atkinson will now be trained by one of the UK’s most respected dual-purpose trainers, Brian Ellison. After several near partnerships, we’re proud to finally team up with Brian and his experienced team at Spring Cottage Stables.

šŸ“ˆ The Plan

Commander Atkinson will undergo gelding immediately upon arrival at Brian’s yard—a move that’s expected to help him focus and progress. Once recovered, he'll return to the track over an increased trip, which we believe will suit him down to the ground. Brian and the team are confident there’s plenty of improvement to come.
