Why This Horse?

Warning Symbol is an exciting addition to Ursa Major Racing, bringing a combination of proven Flat ability and the potential to develop into an interesting National Hunt prospect. A well-bred gelding with plenty of racing experience already behind him, he offers owners the opportunity to enjoy a horse who could provide plenty of variety throughout the season. Having already demonstrated his ability to win on the Flat, we feel there is further improvement to come, particularly as he begins exploring a new discipline. He represents exactly the sort of horse we enjoy having in the club: one with an established racing record, exciting possibilities and the potential to give his owners plenty of enjoyable days at the races.

🏇 Racing Profile

Warning Symbol has already gained valuable experience on the Flat, with eight starts to his name and a victory at Kempton in February 2026, where he showed a good attitude to get his head in front in a competitive mile handicap. He has also recorded placed efforts and most recently finished third at Kempton in October, demonstrating that he remains competitive on the level. Although still relatively lightly raced, he has shown enough ability to suggest there is more to come. His previous experience over a range of distances, from sprint trips to a mile and further, gives us a useful foundation as we look to develop his racing career. The exciting prospect now is seeing how that ability transfers to hurdles.

🏠 Training

Warning Symbol will remain with the experienced James Owen, allowing him to continue benefiting from a familiar training environment and a team who know his abilities. James has already spoken positively about his jumping, explaining that he makes a good shape over his obstacles and shows plenty of promise in that department. This gives us real encouragement as we look towards his National Hunt career. With James overseeing his development, the plan is to continue progressing him on the Flat while also preparing him for a new challenge over hurdles. Having the opportunity to develop in both disciplines should give us plenty of flexibility when deciding where and when to run him.

🧬 Pedigree Highlights

Warning Symbol is bred to be an interesting prospect, being by Mohaather, the high-class miler who won the Group 1 Sussex Stakes at Goodwood. Mohaather possessed a tremendous turn of foot during his racing career and has made an encouraging start to life as a stallion. His dam, Eva Maria, is by the outstanding Sea The Stars, one of the most influential middle-distance horses of his generation. Importantly, Warning Symbol is also a half-brother to Wimbledon Hawkeye, a multiple Group race winner who finished second in the Group 1 Futurity Trophy at Doncaster. This is an attractive pedigree, combining speed and quality on the sire's side with a strong middle-distance influence through his dam.

🌟 Looking Ahead

There is plenty to look forward to with Warning Symbol as he embarks on the next chapter of his racing career in the pink and yellow Ursa Major silks. Remaining with James Owen, the intention is to enjoy him as a genuine dual-purpose horse, giving us the opportunity to explore both Flat racing and juvenile hurdling. His jumping has already caught the attention of the trainer, which is particularly encouraging as we consider his first steps over obstacles. We don't want to put too many restrictions on what he can achieve at this stage; instead, we want to enjoy the journey, take opportunities as they arise and see just how far he can progress. With Flat racing still very much part of the picture and a new National Hunt career waiting to unfold, Warning Symbol could give his owners plenty of different experiences and, hopefully, some memorable days along the way.
