🔹 About Mark

Mark Walford is an established dual-purpose racehorse trainer based in the heart of North Yorkshire. A natural horseman with a keen eye for detail, Mark has steadily built a respected operation that produces winners under both codes—Flat and National Hunt. His training career began under the guidance of his father, Tim Walford, a successful trainer in his own right. In 2013, Mark took over the license and has continued to evolve the yard into a modern and ambitious training business.

Mark is known for his hands-on approach and for placing horses where they can be most competitive. He is equally at home developing young talent or improving older handicappers, and his yard has produced success at tracks across the UK, from northern fixtures to Cheltenham and beyond.

🔹 Facilities

The Sheriff Hutton base offers excellent training amenities including:

  • Private grass and all-weather gallops

  • Schooling grounds and turnout paddocks

  • Horse-walker and lunge pen

  • On-site veterinary and farriery support

These facilities, combined with the stable’s welcoming atmosphere, provide horses with the environment they need to thrive.

🔹 Training Philosophy

Mark’s training philosophy is built around patience, sound horsemanship, and clear communication with owners. His approach emphasizes placing horses to their best advantage, ensuring they are fit, happy, and ready to perform. Owners are kept closely informed and encouraged to be hands-on and involved in their horses’ careers.
